The Living Garden Weekender

Stoke-on-Trent, September 2021.

The Spode Rose Garden is an opportunity to discover this beautiful community green space, via the plants and inhabitants found there. Workshops and hands on activities reveal the material resources of the garden, and show the garden as a space for play, discovery and making.

Throughout the weekend, the Spode Rose Garden became a sanctuary for creative explorations. Katrina led a dyeing session, using plants she has tended to in the garden specifically for their dye qualities, as well as other plants found throughout the garden to create colour on textiles. The following day saw Katrina host a dye-drop off session, where she took people’s items and over-dyed them, giving a new lease of life to each piece.
